DoorDash: Stop fucking with our menus!

We own a small family restaurant. We’re signed up for deliveries with DoorDash — but I’m sick and tired of DoorDash changing our menus without our permission!

Not all of our items have photos yet. I’ve been working on it little by little, but it’s a big project. We have over 100 items on our menu, plus I’m busy running a fucking restaurant every day, so I don’t have time to add more than a few at a time here or there.

DoorDash however can’t seem to fucking wait. Their answer? Stock photos! This is the 2nd fucking time I’ve pulled up our DoorDash menu and seen a photo that I didn’t upload, didn’t take, and isn’t what our dish actually looks like. Take the photo above — that’s not what our Caesar Salad looks like. Somebody is going to order it, get a different looking salad, and then bitch about it — not at DoorDash, but at us! I can see the review now: “Item doesn’t match photo… 1-star!”

So I guess DoorDash customers should be wary too… how many DoorDash menus have they loaded with stock photos that don’t even match? Wouldn’t you prefer to see what the dish you’re ordering really looks like?

The 1st time DoorDash did this to us I sent them an email asking about it… the reply was essentially (I’m paraphrasing here) “oh it’s an AI thing we’re doing to help you fill in the blanks in your menu, but we’ll turn it off for your restaurant”. Apparently they didn’t turn it off after all. And I don’t want their “help”! Their “help” just creates more work for me and makes my life more complicated. How about they fuck off and let ME control MY menu the way I want?

(Editorial note: I blurred out most of the image to hopefully prevent DoorDash from taking retribution against us. I’ve learned that those Silicon Valley-types enjoy punishing people who call out their bullshit publicly.)
